  • Good Business Standards Make A Difference
Recently I saw a question on LinkedIn that somebody wanted information about a virtual assistant. They were considering using one and wanted to know about others’ experiences with them. Unfortunately there were a lot of negatives posted and that doesn’t surprise me in the least. Unfortunately, there are several virtual assistants who are just virtual [...]
  • Non-User Friendly vs Uneducated
There is no doubt about it, Joomla is a very complex system to work with if you don’t have the proper training. Time and time again I am hearing how people are just not happy with their Joomla website and they are not happy with VirtueMart (Joomla’s shopping cart).  Their complaints are the structures are [...]

Building Your Site

Because all of our clients’ needs are different our sites are built in phases.  We offer you as little or as much hands-on as you feel fit.  This insures your satisfaction.

Step One-Assessment

The first step is just plain ole talking.  We get to know your needs, your expectations as well as your future plans for your website and your business. We then help come up with a plan for you to determine your total costs.

We understand that web development is often like learning a different language to some, so we also encourage you to ask questions. If we are discussing your needs and what we think is the best avenue for you and you are totally confused, ask questions.  We want you to fully understand your options and what you are paying for.

Once we get to know your needs, we will write up a proposal for you which you can review, ask additional questions, change or approve.

Step Two-Contract and Retainer

We bill flat rate which means we DO NOT bill by the hour. We do this so you can see EXACTLY what you are getting for your money. We base our billing on the average hours that it takes to do specific tasks. You’ll get a flat rate quote. These fees will include everything you need, so unless you add a task, what you see is what you pay.

The design is done in phases.  They are broke down logically so both you and us know when a phase is completed. Each phase will have a specific payment for that phase. Sometimes the fees are the same for every phase, sometimes they are different, depending on how well your site breaks down into task divisions. The fee for each phase also depends on whether or not there is any software that needs to be purchased for that phase.  You will be notified ahead of time if that is the case.

We require the fee for each phase paid in advance. This insures you that you do not have to pay a large amount at one time, but it also insures that we get paid for the work that is completed to your satisfaction. If your satisfaction is not or can not be reached, then your fee is fully refundable. However, we have yet to encounter any client that is not satisfied. The second phase is paid for in advance when you are satisfied with the first phase; the first phase is no longer refundable. And it goes on like that for every phase.  Your satisfaction is always a number one priority.

Step Three-Initial Design Phase

Phase one of your website development is the most collaborative of all phases.  This is the phase were we work together to get the navigation, appearance and marketing feel just right. There is always a bit of compromise on both parts until we learn each other’s styles.
Additional steps really depend on the complexity of your site.

Diary of a Web Designer
  • Threatened By Lil Ole Me….
I got an email the other day from somebody asking to see my portfolio so I sent them a couple of links to sites that I have created. I also sent them a link to my free templates for Joomla and WordPress. They proceeded to email me back that they all look like rebadged templates [...]
  • I’m Not Going To Do It For You
I have had a couple of people come to me for advice on their website and starting a new business.  I love being able to help people when they need it to get their website performing like it should and to help those starting businesses start out on the right foot. However, all too often [...]
